Standard Conventions
Here are some standard house rules/conventions that are used for GCACW Replays.
- Basic Rules: Unless noted otherwise, all replays use the Standard Series rules (download from gcacw.com). The campaign game rules are RAW (rules as written) unless noted.
- Optional Rules: Ammo rules are always used unless otherwise noted. Detachment of artillery to substitutes is NOT used unless otherwise noted. No other optional rules are used unless noted (army leader activation [which is not optional in GTC and is thus used], extra activation of F4 organized units).
- Commentary: Replay description is in normal text. "Neutral" commentary is in shaded text. Since many of these replays are my solitaire playings, don't ask how I get the neutral commentary. Actually the neutral commentary is intended to be informative about the interaction between choices being made in the game and the rules that might not be clear. The commentary also explains why some moves are made or points out what appear to be poor strategic choices.
- Pictures: In the pictures with force markers, the force marker is selected to be the same number as the corps of the majority of the units in the hex. For example, if a hex has two I Corps divisions and one V Corps division, the force marker will be Force 1. Usually these conventions apply to the Union as in many games the Confederate Corps are not numbered.
