HCR#1: September 10th-12th

The weather on the 10th is clear again (Union commitment) and the HF's garrison finally agrees to surrender terms. Jackson destroys White's brigade. DH Hill and Lawton move towards Frederick as does most of Longstreet's corps. All divisions in the AoP make three marches (two extended marches) and lose 6 MP to straggling. These losses are not without gain however. Sumner's II Corps crosses the Monocracy, surrounds and routs Walker, saving the Aqueduct from destruction.

HCR1 10Sep1
September 10th: Sumner routs Walker and saves the Aqueduct.

Big gain for the Federals here by saving the Aqueduct. The rain turns probably saved an extra day of trying to destroy it. Those 5 VP will loom large at the end if it is close.

HCR1 10Sep2
September 10th: The Army of the Potomac advances on Frederick county.
HCR1 12Sep
September 12th: Longstreet's entrenched Rebels face off with the AoP.

On September 11th and 12th, Longstreet's corps digs in around Frederick. The AoP rests most of the 11th and then presses for the banks of the Monocracy on the 12th. Jackson and AP Hill attack D'Utassy near Hagerstown but suffer heavy casualties (+6 attack results in a +2 Dr/1Da result). On the 12th, Jackson retires to Hagerstown for supply while DH Hill and Lawton join Lee near Frederick.

The AoP is about to make contact with Longstreet but Jackson and half his command are nowhere to be found. The Rebs probably should have let Ford and D'Utassy go and instead, reunited Jackson with Longstreet's corps sooner. Note that in HCR the Rebs are not allowed to build forts so Longstreet's troops have maximized their entrenchment with breastworks.
