GCACW Beginner’s Tutorial: Lesson 3
Recovery and Weather
- 8.0 Recovery
- 10.0 Bridges, Dams and Ferries

The bridge rules are not that critical right now, so you can probably skip them. Just know that pontoons act like permanent bridges, as they will be part of the next replay.
In any operational game, weather is likely to play a role and GCACW is no exception. There are two weather types: rain and non-rain. Rain slows down the movement of units, prevents entrenching and inhibits combat (-1 drm for the attacker). Rain also makes rivers unfordable and turns provisional swamp hexes (see OTR maps) into swamps. The impact of rain on fords can last after the storm is over depending on the type of river and game.
The next scenario is a two-turn affair. You should re-read 5.2 Activate Leader (Special Rule for On to Richmond) before you start.
